MeetTheMostFashionableCharity

...FAD...

Charity is one thing, but fashionable charity is another...
This is what many discovered last Tuesday evening, when one-off garments were showcased at a very special London Fashion Week catwalk show by the creative charity Fashion Awareness Direct [FAD]. With 20 models clad in young designer's creations, the atmospheric Freemasons Hall was bustling with anticipation. Based around the theme 'Here & Now - objects, people & themes that symbolise the London spirit & the environment that surrounds them', the 16-19 year old's imaginations were encouraged to run wild with creativity. With the FAD Junior Awards catwalk show giving this unbelievable opportunity to a select number of young people from in & around London, the competition was fierce but these 20 triumphed to earn their space on the Fashion Scout LFW catwalk.

So the talented 20 were chosen & were given just a mere 5 days to transform their fashion illustrations to catwalk-worthy looks through hands-on workshops with industry experts, helping to hone their research, designing & making skills. Browsing the line-up of illustrations waiting for us while waiting for the show, the first thing that struck me was the sheer range of inspirational diversity the young designers drew from the 'London' theme, all interpreting it in very individual & intuitive ways. This is clear promise for the aspiring creatives, as they added their own personal touches to the theme & ran with it all the way to London Fashion Week...

Winning a work experience with George at Asda, the show's sponsor, Beau Scarlett-Pitt's couture design was a clear stand-out. Creatively bringing together London inspiration from the rusty railway tracks that link the London Boroughs, the major Boris Johnson & the iconic Trafalgar Square pigeon, her design was innovative, fresh & experimental...and all by a 17 year old Londoner!

Bravo FADers for putting on such a memorable & helpful show that will reach out to young & aspiring designers everywhere.

A leading designer of fashion in the international markets, Ping He's debut in the UK showcased her signature style, derived from her love of architecture. Inspired structural silhouettes adorned with eye-catching details formed the collection's aesthetics for it's first showing in London. Creativity & vision is what Pinge He's concept is all about, honed through her previous work for fashion houses such as Alexander McQueen. As models shone down the catwalk with bejewelled lip lines & graffiti striped bouffant hair, the minimalist clothes spoke many volumes, receiving PINGHE's next-to-monochrome collection much acclaim on the Fashion Scout London Fashion Week catwalk...

MeetMyFirstFashionWeek

Yes it is that time of year again & it is my first London Fashion Week as a blogger. The preparation consisted of weeks of emailing designers requesting tickets for their long-awaited shows, with the hope that some kind souls in the form of pr would appreciate my sheer dedication [or maybe desperation] & allow me an invite to some shows... Then the invitations came rolling it! Let's do LFW...blogger style!

...Day 1...

...My stylist friend Kate KcKay...
...Vintage oriental embroidery + oversized culottes + circle glasses...

...Kilian Kerner Collection Presentation...

An established designer at Berlin Fashion Week, Kilian Kerner's first show at LFW was a serene start to a whirlwind week. Greeted with delicate flutes of champagne on entrance into a grand room at the established Waldorf Hilton hotel, the first sight of the models, paused in a moment of mannequin still-life was simply breathtaking. A wander around the room to the pianist's melody exposed the collection in greater detail at closer inspection. A generous sprinkling of sequins created glamour out of simplistic shapes combined with full skirts & fishtail silhouettes to add a fairytale vibe to the room paused on stopwatch timing.
